Storm Damage Repair in Newport, KY

When wind or hail hits your roof, you want to know what actually broke and what it will take to fix it. We check the whole roof, photograph the damage and repair what can be repaired. If the storm did more than a patch can handle, we tell you plainly.

What Storm Damage Repair Covers

Storm damage is rarely spread evenly across a roof. A gust lifts one row of shingles on the windward slope, hail bruises a few areas and dents the vents, and a falling limb punctures one spot. Most of the time the rest of the roof is fine. That is why we start by finding exactly what changed, not by talking about a whole new roof.

If the damage is limited, we swap out the broken shingles, reseal the lifted ones and refasten flashing that pulled loose. A patch stops making sense when hail marks show up on nearly every face of the roof, or when the shingles were already brittle and curling before the storm hit. Then a repair can cost you twice, so we explain why and walk you through what roof replacement would involve. You decide with the facts in front of you.

Spring thunderstorms and the freeze-thaw winters here are hard on a roof that already has a weak spot. Fixing storm damage before the next season keeps a small opening from turning into wet decking and stained ceilings.

What We Do on a Storm Repair

A full roof check, not just the obvious spot

We walk every slope we can safely reach and look at shingles, ridge caps, flashing, vents and the gutters. Hail often shows up first on soft metal, so dented vents and downspouts tell us where to look closely.

Photos of what we found

You get clear pictures of each damaged area. They help you see the problem from the ground, and you can share them with your insurance company if you decide to file.

New shingles and ridge caps

We remove creased, torn or missing shingles and install new ones that come as close as we can get to your existing roof. Lifted shingles that are still sound get resealed rather than swapped.

Flashing and vent repairs

Wind loves to pry at chimney flashing, step flashing along walls and pipe boots. We reseat or renew what moved and seal it so water has no way in.

Temporary protection when needed

If there is an opening and the repair cannot happen right away, we can cover it to keep rain out until we return.

Gutter and siding notes

Storms that damage a roof often bend gutters or crack siding too. We point out what we see so you have the full picture, and we handle gutters and siding as well.

Signs the Storm Left Damage Behind

  • Shingle pieces after the storm

Torn tabs or whole shingles on the grass, patio or walkway tell you something came loose up top. Even one missing tab leaves the underlayment open to rain.

  • Dented vents, gutters or downspouts

If hail left marks on metal, it likely hit the shingles too. Bruises on shingles are harder to spot from the ground.

  • Granules piling up at the downspouts

A sudden heap of sandy granules after a storm can mean hail knocked the protective coating off. Those spots wear out faster in the sun.

  • A new water stain or drip

A ceiling stain that appears after heavy wind and rain usually points to lifted shingles or loose flashing above it.

  • Branches on the roof

Even a limb that looks small can crack shingles or puncture the decking. Leave it for us rather than climbing up yourself.

How a Storm Repair Goes

  1. 1

You call and tell us what happened

We ask what you noticed and set a time to come out. The estimate is free.

  2. 2

    We inspect and photograph

We go over the roof one slope at a time and take pictures of every spot the storm touched. Back on the ground, we go through those pictures with you and say plainly whether a repair will last.

  3. 3

    You get a clear plan

We lay out the repair, what it covers and what it costs, line by line. If replacement makes more sense, we explain why in plain terms and you decide.

  4. 4

    Repair and cleanup

We cover plants and walkways, make the repair and roll a magnetic sweeper over the ground to pick up loose nails before we go. Then we walk you through the finished work.

What Moves the Cost of a Storm Repair

The price of a storm repair comes down to what the inspection turns up on your roof. A few lifted shingles and a resealed pipe boot make a small job. Damage on several slopes, or water that has already soaked the decking, takes more time and material.

How much of the roof was hit
Damage limited to one slope costs far less than hail marks spread across the whole roof.
What is under the shingles
If water got through and softened the decking, those sections need new boards before shingles go back down.
Finding shingles that blend in
When your shingle line is no longer made, or the roof has weathered for many years, getting a close blend may mean using a different product. That choice can shift the material cost up or down.
Roof pitch and access
Steep roofs and tight spots near trees or neighboring houses take more care and safety setup.

Storm Damage Questions

Something not covered here? (859) 667-1817

Should I file an insurance claim before I call you?

You can call us first. We inspect the roof, take photos and tell you what we see, which helps you decide whether a claim makes sense. We can explain how the process usually works, but your insurance company and its adjuster make the coverage decisions.

Will you tell me I need a new roof?

Only if it is true. Most storm damage is limited to certain areas and can be repaired. If the damage is widespread or your roof was already worn out, we explain why replacement is the better value and show you the photos.

Will the new shingles look like the rest of my roof?

We look for the closest color and profile to what is already on your home. Shingles fade in the sun over the years, so a fresh section can look a shade different at first. We show you the closest option and talk through how noticeable it will be before any work starts.

Is it safe to wait a few weeks for a repair?

A missing shingle or loose flashing lets water in with every rain, and winter freezes can widen the opening. If you cannot schedule the repair soon, at least have the opening covered. We can tell you how urgent your situation is after we look.

Do you work outside Newport?

Yes. We also work in nearby towns including Fort Thomas, Bellevue, Southgate and Covington. Our Service Areas page lists more.
