Gutter Repair and Replacement in Newport
Drips at the corners, runs sagging off the fascia board or water sheeting past the trough in a downpour all push water toward your siding and foundation. We check the whole system, repair what is still sound and tell you honestly when new gutters are the better buy.
Gutters Keep Water Away From Your Home
Every gallon of rain that lands on your roof has to go somewhere. Working gutters gather it at the eaves and move it down the downspouts, well clear of your home. When they stop doing that, water slips behind the fascia, streaks the siding, soaks the soil along the foundation and can find its way into the basement. It usually starts with something small, like a hanger that has backed out or a joint whose sealant has dried and cracked.
Plenty of gutter trouble is fixable without new metal. Resealing joints, rehanging a drooping run, correcting the pitch or adding a downspout often settles it for much less money. That is where we begin. If the metal is corroded through, the runs are covered in old patches or the system is undersized for your roof, we explain why new gutters are the smarter spend and what that job would involve.
Freeze-and-thaw winters around Newport load gutters with ice that pries at every joint, so correct slope and solid hangers matter more than most people expect.
What Our Gutter Work Covers
- Leak and joint repair
- We clean out the joint, reseal it with gutter sealant and refit end caps that have worked loose. Drips at corners and joints are the fix we make most often.
- Rehanging and re-pitching
- Sagging runs get new hidden hangers screwed into solid wood, spaced closely enough to carry snow and ice. We reset the slope so water moves toward the downspout instead of sitting in the middle.
- Downspouts and extensions
- We clear clogged downspouts, add a second outlet where a long run needs one and extend the discharge so water lands well away from your foundation.
- Fascia board repair
- When water has been running behind the gutter, the fascia often rots. We swap out the soft sections before the gutter goes back up, so the new fasteners bite into something solid.
- One-piece gutter installation
- When new gutters make sense, we form one-piece aluminum runs on site, cut to the exact length of each side of your home. Fewer seams along the eaves means far fewer places for a leak to start.
- Gutter guards
- If nearby trees drop leaves and seed pods on your roof every year, guards can cut down on clogs. We will tell you plainly whether your home actually needs them.
When Your Gutters Are Asking for Help
Overflow in an ordinary rain
If water pours over the front lip during a normal shower, look for a clog, a downspout too narrow for the run or a pitch that tilts the wrong way. That water drops right at your foundation.
A gutter leaning off the fascia
If the back edge of the gutter has drifted away from the wood it hangs on, the hangers have loosened or the board behind them has started to soften. Either way, rain is slipping down behind it.
Streaks or blistered paint on the siding
Dark lines and bubbling paint under the gutter line mark the spots where water is escaping and running down the wall.
Puddles in the trough or rust trails
Water still sitting in the gutter a day after the rain means a low spot. Orange streaks on older steel gutters tell you the metal is thinning.
Trenches in the beds or a damp basement
Mulch washed into little channels, or moisture creeping along basement walls, often leads back to a downspout emptying too close to your home.
What Moves the Cost of Gutter Work
A repair visit and a full new system are very different jobs, and we price them that way. Your estimate depends on what we actually find on your home, and we walk you through each line before any work starts.
Repair or new gutters
Resealing joints and rehanging a run takes far less material and time than new gutters. That is why we check whether a repair will last before quoting a replacement.
Total length and number of corners
Longer runs and more inside and outside corners add material and labor. Each downspout adds to the count as well.
Height and access
A two- or three-story home, a sloped lot or a tight gap between houses can mean extra ladder work and setup time.
Condition of the fascia
Rotted fascia has to be fixed before gutters can be fastened securely, and we cannot always see how far the rot goes until the old gutter comes down. If that happens, we tell you right away.
Guards and extras
Gutter guards, oversized downspouts and underground drain connections are optional and priced on their own lines.
How a Gutter Visit Works
- 1
We look at the whole system
We walk the full perimeter and check every run, joint, hanger and downspout from a ladder. We also look at the fascia and the roof edge, since a gutter problem sometimes begins at the drip edge.
- 2
You get a straight recommendation
We show you what we found, with photos when that helps, and explain whether a repair will hold or whether a new run or a full new system is the better choice. Your estimate is free and spelled out item by item.
- 3
The work day
We set ladders with care, keep shrubs and walkways clear and lower old sections instead of dragging them across the roof. Most repairs wrap up in a few hours, and a full new gutter installation on a typical house usually takes a day.
- 4
Testing and cleanup
Before we leave, we run water through the gutters to confirm it reaches each downspout. Old metal, screws and debris are hauled away, and we sweep the yard for stray fasteners.

Gutter Questions We Hear Often
Is it worth fixing my old gutters, or should I start over?
If the metal is still sound, fixing is usually the better value. Leaky joints, loose hangers and poor slope can all be corrected on gutters that are otherwise in good shape. We suggest replacement when the metal is rusted through, the runs are crowded with old patches or the gutters are too small for the water your roof sheds.
What makes one-piece gutters better than sectional ones?
Sectional gutters arrive in short pieces that get joined roughly every ten feet, and any of those seams can open up with time. We form one-piece gutters on site to match the full length of each side of your home, so seams show up only where a run turns a corner or meets a downspout. They also give the roofline a cleaner look.
Do I really need gutter guards?
Guards earn their cost when tall trees hang over your roof and clogs keep coming back. On a house with few trees nearby, they often are not worth the extra money. We base our answer on what we see at your home, not on a sales target.
Why is water dripping out behind my gutter?
Most often the gutter has pulled away from the fascia, or the roof edge is missing drip edge flashing to steer water into the trough. We check both and fix whichever is the cause, either by rehanging the gutter or adding flashing. If the fascia has been soaking up water for a while, we replace the soft wood as well.
Can you check my roof while you are up there?
Yes. Gutter trouble and roof trouble are often linked, so we note anything we spot at the roof edge. If something deserves a closer look, we can set up a roof inspection or talk through roof repair options with you.
