Roof Repair in Newport, KY
A leak doesn't automatically mean a new roof. We trace the water to where it actually gets in, fix that spot properly and show you photos of what we found. If a repair won't hold, we'll say so and explain why.
When a Repair Is the Right Call
Most leaking roofs don't need to come off. One lifted shingle, a split rubber collar around a plumbing vent or chimney flashing that has worked loose can let water into your home while the rest of the roof still has years left. We find that weak point, fix it properly and leave the sound parts of your roof alone.
We'll also tell you when a repair would be money poorly spent. When the shingles have turned brittle from ridge to eaves, or we find spongy plywood in more than one spot, patching one area just moves the next leak a few feet over. In that case we walk you through what we saw and talk about roof replacement as an option, with no pressure to decide that day.
Freeze-thaw winters here widen small gaps quickly, so fixing a weak spot early usually keeps the job small.
What Our Roof Repair Covers
- Leak tracing
- When we can get into your attic, we start there and follow stains and damp insulation back to the source. Water often runs along a rafter until it finds a place to drip, so the spot on your ceiling is rarely right under the hole. We confirm the entry point on the roof before we fix anything.
- Shingle repair
- Missing, cracked or creased shingles come off and new ones go on, nailed correctly and sealed down. We match color and profile as closely as we can and let you know up front if an exact match isn't available.
- Flashing repair
- Chimneys, sidewalls, skylights and valleys are where many leaks begin. We reseat or install new step and counter flashing instead of smearing caulk over the gap and hoping.
- Pipe boots and vents
- The rubber collars around plumbing vents crack after years of sun and cold. We swap out worn boots and check vent caps while we're up there.
- Decking repair
- If the plywood under the shingles has gone soft, we cut out the damaged section and put in new wood ahead of the shingles. Shingles nailed into rotted wood won't stay put.
Signs Your Roof Needs a Repair
Stains or drips after rain
Brown rings on a ceiling or wet spots along an upstairs wall mean water is getting past the roof. Tracing it soon saves drywall and insulation.
Shingle pieces on the ground
If you find bits of shingle in the grass or the gutters after strong wind, there are bare spots overhead. For severe wind or hail, our Storm Damage Repair page explains how we handle that.
Damp or daylight in the attic
Light showing through boards, wet insulation or a musty smell all point to an opening that needs attention.
Ice buildup at the eaves
Thick ice along the roof edge can push meltwater under shingles. Repeated ice dams often point to a ventilation or flashing problem we can correct.
A soft or sagging spot
A low area you can see from the street usually means wet or weakened decking underneath. That's worth a look while it's still small.
What Moves the Cost of a Roof Repair
The same ceiling stain can come from a quick fix or a rotted section of decking, so we only quote once we've been on the roof. You get the price in writing ahead of any work. If opening the roof turns up something unexpected, we stop and talk it through with you first.
How much is damaged
One cracked pipe boot is a small job. Several areas of missing shingles or a long run of failed flashing takes more time and material.
What's under the shingles
Dry, solid decking keeps a repair simple. Soft or rotted wood has to be cut out and swapped for new, which adds labor and material.
Pitch, height and access
Steep roofs and tall homes need extra safety setup. A chimney or skylight in the middle of the repair area also adds detail work.
Shingle type and matching
Common architectural shingles are easy to source. Older or discontinued styles can take more effort to match well.
How a Repair Goes, Start to Finish
- 1
A phone call
Tell us where the water shows up and when it happens. Heavy rain, wind-driven rain and snowmelt each point to different causes, so those details help.
- 2
Free inspection with photos
We check the attic and the roof, then show you photos of the problem and anything else we noticed. You see what we see.
- 3
A written estimate
You get the repair spelled out line by line. If we think replacement is the smarter choice, we explain why next to the repair option so you can compare.
- 4
Repair day
We set ladders carefully, cover shrubs near the work area and make the repair. At the end we pick up every scrap of shingle and go over the grass and pavement with a rolling magnet to catch loose nails.
- 5
A quick walkthrough
We show you photos of the finished work next to the originals and tell you what to watch for in the coming seasons.

Roof Repair Questions We Hear Often
Can you just fix the leak instead of replacing my whole roof?
Often, yes. If the shingles around the problem are still flexible and the decking is sound, a targeted repair can keep your roof working for years. We'll tell you honestly if we think that's the case for your home.
How do I know you're not overselling me?
We show you photos of everything we recommend, and the estimate lists each item separately. If we suggest replacement, we explain the reasons in plain terms and still price the repair so you can choose.
How long does a typical repair take?
Many repairs, like a pipe boot or a few shingles, are finished in a single visit. Jobs that involve new decking or rebuilt flashing around a chimney can take longer, and we'll give you a realistic idea when we write the estimate.
Will the repaired area stand out?
We look for the closest color and style available. New shingles of the same product often look a shade brighter at first and blend in as they weather. If nothing close exists, you'll hear that from us ahead of time so you can decide.
What should I do while I wait for the repair?
Move belongings away from the drip, set out a bucket and keep an eye on the ceiling. Please stay off the roof yourself, especially when it's wet or icy. We'll take it from there.
Do you repair roofs outside Newport?
Yes. We also work in nearby towns including Fort Thomas, Bellevue, Southgate, Covington and Cold Spring. The Service Areas page lists more.
